The Soliad Wendover is a full-size unibody coupe produced by Soliad during the 1980s. It is available with a supercharged V6 engine.

The Wendover is not currently in-game. It will be the last car added to the game from the original vehicle poll,[1][2] having undergone a development cycle lasting over seven years since its initial reveal.

Development

There’s something strangely alluring about horrible 80s American cars, especially the big boaty ones with sporting pretensions. The Soliad Wendover is exactly that – heavy, ugly, and shaped like a wedge. Its ancient cast-iron V6 is barely enough motivation even with a supercharger. This car wishes it was cooler than it actually is.

—Gabester, Devblog, 10 December 2012

In its original (and thus far only) development render, revealed on December 10, 2012, the Wendover was depicted as a four-door sedan. In the first vehicle poll on the forums, it came last, with three votes.[1] In the next poll, it came in seventh, with 16 votes.[3] On October 6, 2016, Gabester stated that the Wendover will use the same V6 engine and accompanying supercharger used in the Bruckell LeGran,[4] though it was not clarified whether it would use the 3.3 liter, 3.8 liter, or both.

Little was heard about the Wendover until August 21, 2018, when Gabester confirmed that the Wendover is still planned to be released.[5] On February 21, 2019, Gabester revealed that the Wendover's body style had been changed from a four-door sedan to a two-door coupe.[6] He cited the absence of front-wheel-drive coupes as well as the LeGran and Ibishu Pessima already filling the "1980s front-wheel-drive sedan" niche as reasons for the change.[6]

On October 27, 2019, Falkrum confirmed that the Wendover would not be the next car in-game.[7] The Cherrier Vivace was revealed on February 11, 2020.[8]

Trivia

  • The Wendover appears to be named after the city of Wendover in Utah. The Pontiac Bonneville, a real-life car similar to the Wendover, is named after the Bonneville Salt Flats also located in Utah.
