The Civetta Bolide is a 1980s supercar built by fictional car maker Civetta. Named after the Italian word for "Fireball", the Bolide is a wedge-shaped car with defined angles, pop-up headlights, and plenty of flat sides, suggesting a production run from 1981 to 1988.
As of version 0.7.0 , the Bolide comes in five variants: the 320, with a 3.2L V8, the 350,with a 3.5L V8, 350 GT, with a 3.5L V8, the 390 GTR, with a 3.9L, and the 390 GTR Scuderia (meaning "stable"), which is a 390 GTR with Italian racing graphics and a spoiler. Finally, in version 5.2, the Bolide Notte (meaning "night") variant was introduced. It is a tuned Bolide with wider wheels, and is faster.
The 320 is equipped with narrow black steel wheels, while the 350 GT has alloys that are 2 inches wider in the front and 1 inch wider in the rear. The 390 GTR is equipped with wide-body fender flares, deeply inset alloy wheels, and massive tires. The same applies to the Scuderia, but includes graphics with the Italian word for "cigarette" and a spoiler, causing it to weigh 10 kg heavier. All Bolide variants weigh roughly 3000 lbs/1300 kg. The 390 GTR also features stiffened, lowered suspension, making it less suited to uneven terrain but more responsive on a smooth racetrack. The 390 GTR is capable of reaching nearly 190 mph, while the 350 GT can reach about 160 and the 320 approaches 140 mph. The Bolide 320 is remarkably easy to drive compared to its more powerful brethren due to its power deficit. However, it's still reasonably quick, and is in a dead heat with the Covet Sport around most racetracks.
The Bolide has low ground clearance but has surprisingly compliant suspension with a good amount of travel. The low suspension combined with the wide, short body of the vehicle offer a low center of gravity, allowing for great cornering stability, and sharp, responsive driving. Due to its decent amount of power, low weight, and lack of modern stability technology, the Bolide is more challenging to drive than other vehicles, but maintaining good throttle control and being smooth with the steering allows for predictable, easy-to-control handling. Still, it can conquer bumps and potholes better than one would expect, and its mid-engine layout provides optimal weight balance.
The Bolide is, however, lacking in crash safety. The design of the Bolide means that while many of the body components such as the faceplate, pop-up headlights and bumpers are fragile and can come off easily in minor incidents, the stiff underlying frame of the vehicle stays quite rigid in a crash. This can result in violent rebounds and rollovers. Additionally, the doors will often pop open in an impact, removing themselves entirely from the structural equation and causing the passenger cell to deform excessively. However, in car-to-car impacts, the rigidity and low wedge shape of the Bolide make it a very effective weapon, even against heavier opponents.
